The Asian Indian community in South Florida nutures and cherishes the art and culture of the Indian sub-continent. 
 
For those who are not aware, the Indian Sub-continent region is the birthplace of two unique and distinct genres of classical music: Hindustani and Carnatic.
 
Hindustani music, originating in the Vedic period, it is a tradition that has been evolving from the 12th century AD, from the region that is now comprised of northern India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan.
 
Carnatic music is a system of music commonly believed have originated in the southern part of the Indian subcontinent roughly confined to the four modern states of Southern India. 
 
The sub-continent has given birth to varied forms of dancing, each shaped by the influences of a particular period and environment. These pristine forms have been preserved through the centuries, to become a part of the present culture, a living heritage which is both the pride and delight of Asian Indians worldwide.
